Sky Water Cabins is located on the banks of the infamous Bitterroot River. Known well throughout the western United States as one of the best Dry fly fishing rivers in the country, the Bitterroot winds its way through its namesake valley almost 90 miles from high up in the mountains to the South all the way North to Missoula where in joins the Clark Fork river. There is great trout fishing opportunities on every mile of this river system.
A mild climate makes for a very long dry fly season as the Bitterroot boasts great dry fly fishing for Brown, Rainbow and Cutthroat trout from March all the way to October. Stonefly and mayfly hatches are as prolific as you will find almost anywhere, and these hatches keep anglers from around the world coming back every year. The Bitterroot is arguably the most consistent dry fly fishery in all of the western United States. There’s also a little bit of everything on this river in terms of scenery, fish habitat, and types of fishing. It’s truly a fly fisherman’s paradise.
There are many opportunities to wade fish on your own, as public access is plentiful throughout the entire river system. We also work with a local outfitting company, Latitudes Outfitting Co, if you are interested in setting up an all inclusive guided float trip. Your guide will pick you up and drop you off right from the Sky Water Cabins.
